Lunch: “The Belgian Conundrum”

The President and Committee of the Oxford University Society of Belgium are pleased to announce that Prof. Mark Eyskens has agreed to speak to the Oxford and Cambridge Societies and the Fondation Universitaire Stichting on Tuesday 26th February on “The Belgian Conundrum".

Mark Eyskens was a member of 13 Belgian governments between 1976 and 1992, serving as Prime Minister in 1981. He was President of the Board of the University of Leuven and professor of economics. He is still very active in politics (International Crisis Group...),  as a writer of (philosophical) novels, and as a speaker.

We have asked him to try to explain Belgian politics and the present situation, in such a way that those who have only lived here for a short time can (perhaps) understand what is going on now. There should be time to answer the questions you always wanted to ask, but never had the opportunity to ask to someone with the experience and insight to answer.

The venue will be: Fondation Universitaire Stichting, Rue d'Egmont 11, 1000 Brussels.

There will be a recepti camson from12.00 noon, followed by lunch at 12.30p.m.
