We have the pleasure of inviting you to a dinner conference with the renowned scientist and scholar, Professor Sir Tim Hunt, which will be held on

Tuesday, 8th April 2014, at 7:30 pm

at the Fondation Universitaire/Universitaire Stichting, rue d'Egmont 11/Egmontstraat 11, 1000 Brussels.

Our guest speaker was awarded the 2001 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, together with Lee Hartwell and Paul Nurse, for their discoveries of key regulators of the cell cycle. The title of his dinner speech is: “How to Win a Nobel Prize”.

Professor Sir Tim Hunt studied Natural Sciences at Clare College, Cambridge University, and joined the Department of Biochemistry as a research student in 1964, completing his PhD, entitled “The Synthesis of Haemoglobin”, in 1968. Professor Hunt then conducted research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He returned to the UK in 1971 to work with Tony Hunter and Richard Jackson in Cambridge, who had discovered that haemoglobin synthesis was initiated with a special methionine tRNA. As of 1990, Professor Hunt has worked as a principal scientist at the Clare Hall Laboratories of the Imperial Cancer Research Fund, now “Cancer Research UK”.

He was elected a Fellow of the “Royal Society” in 1991 and a Foreign associate of the “U.S. National Academy of Sciences” in 1999.  In 2006, he was awarded the Royal Medal for his work on cell cycle control and was knighted by the Queen in the same year.
